DON"T SKIP BREAKFAST - Eat 5 to 6 small healthy meals a day. By starting your day off with a healthy breakfast, this will help to give you sustainable energy and help to keep blood sugar and cravings under control.
GET PLENTY OF RESTFUL SLEEP - A lack of sleep not only makes you tired but it can also affect your weight loss efforts due to the reduction of the hormone leptin, a hormone that regulates hunger and appetite.
DRINK AT LEAST 64oz. OF WATER - Water helps to flush toxins out of your body and it also hydrates your cells. Drinking more water can also help to decrease the urge to eat. Eliminate sugary sodas, juices and alcoholic beverages.
EXERCISE FOR 60 MINUTES 3 TO 5 DAYS PER WEEK - Physical activity not only helps you to lose weight but also increases your mood to a positive mood.
MANAGE STRESS LEVELS AND KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE - Managing stress can reduce the urge to overeat if you are a stress eater and also it can reduce the production of the stress hormone cortisol, which can lead to weight gain.
LIMIT SALT INTAKE TO 1200 TO 1500mg PER DAY - Limiting sodium intake helps to reduce your chances of high blood pressure. Large amounts of sodium is usually found in fast foods and junk foods.
EAT A LOW FAT HIGH FIBER DIET - Eating a low fat high fiber diet will help decrease weight gain because the reduction of fat. (Fat has 9 calories per gram of fat) While eating a higher fiber diet helps to control the rise of blood sugar but high fiber foods tend to be healthier choices such as fruits, veggies and whole grains.
PLAN AHEAD FOR YOUR MEALS AND WORKOUTS - Planning ahead increases your chances for success in meeting your weight loss and exercise goals. Having a plan is a road map for success.
CONTROL FOOD PORTIONS BY MEASURING AND WEIGHING FOOD - Portion controlling your food is a way to decrease calories which will help you to lose and or maintain a healthier weight and to ensure that you do not over eat.
TAKE A MULTIVITAMIN - Taking a multivitamin helps you to not miss out on getting the proper vitamins and minerals that you miss from an imbalanced diet.
